Our annual SMPTE New England Cook Out & Social - at WCVB-TV
WCVB's CHRONICLE continues to grow and evolve on new platforms, the show’s 37 year commitment to informative and entertaining story-telling is expanding.
NNEKA NWOSU FAISON, Chronicle’s new Managing Editor will highlight developments with the show and will present for the attendees a little peek into the future for the program.
ART DONAHUE will present his recently completed one hour HD documentary “50 Years of Local TV News Production 1969-2019.” This documentary was produced SPECIFICALLY for this SMPTE meeting, and it is simply marvelous.
The documentary will illustrate the advancement of technology from 16mm motion picture film to analog videotape and on to digital HD with numerous examples of the enhancements in TV storytelling that have occurred with each new development.
Awarded his FCC First Class License in 1979, Art worked as a Producer/Photographer/Editor at four New England TV Stations: WWLP, WBZ, WFSB, and WCVB, with 27 years at WCVB’s Chronicle. Art was the Boston Press Photographers Association's. “New England TV News Photographer of the Year” for seven years and the National Press Photographers Association's "National TV News Photographer of the Year" in 1986.
Over the years, Art was awarded 15 Emmy Awards for Photography, Video Editing, Writing and Producing, retiring from WCVB in 2014. DIRECTIONS: WCVB is located directly off Interstate 95 (Rte. 128), at Exit 19B, the Needham-Highland Ave. exit.
FROM THE NORTH: Take I-95, Route 3 or I-93 south until it merges with I-95 south (Route 128). Get off at the 19B exit. Exit onto Highland Avenue and take your first right at the first traffic light at Gould Street. Pass car dealership on the right (Muzi Ford) and turn right into WCVB driveway at the "5" sign. Park in the parking lot near the satellite dishes and follow the signs to the lobby.
FROM THE EAST: Take Interstate 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) west to I-95 South (Cape Cod exit). Get on I-95 south and exit at 19B. Follow directions above.
FROM THE SOUTH: Take I-95 north, Route 24 north, or Route 3 north to I-95 (Route 128) north. Go toward Dedham. Take exit 19B. Follow directions above.
FROM THE WEST: Take I-90, the Massachusetts Turnpike, east to I-95 south. Go south on I-95 and exit at 19B. Follow directions above.
