Howie Rouse makes a point

At the Wednesday, June 19, 2013 meeting...
A TECHNICAL HISTORY OF SPORTS TELEVISION IN BOSTON
With Howie Rouse at the Museum of Broadcast Technology

Also, our Annual Barbecue is a Retirement Party for Paul Beck!

Howie Rouse, former WBZ-TV and WHDH-TV crew chief was there at the start of television sports broadcasting in Boston. Also Paul Beck, a former camera operator for Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins telecasts.

Both shared some personal stories about the behind-the-scenes events and adventures in these telecasts. It was a lively show & tell surrounded by exactly the type of broadcast camera equipment that made it possible!

We also screened portions of a rare historical interview with RCA television pioneer VLADIMIR ZWORYKIN and some other clips of early television events. Teh event was held at the Museum of Broadcast Technology in Woonsocket, RI, of which Paul Beck is a co-founder. And coincidentally, it was also his retirement party!

Here are some pictures...

Happy Retirement, Paul!
