Hugo Gaggione, Sony's Senior VP of Product Management discussed different compression methods as they relate to Broadcast and Production in the 21st century. Some of the areas he covered were MPEG-4, which has so far seen only limited implementation, the ubiquitous MPEG-2, and Sony HDCAM, along with insights into methods planned to be used in upcoming equipment, specifically optical and high end HD products. Mr. Gaggione has served on many SMPTE and MPEG standardization committees over the years and currently heads up Product Management for Sony in the US.
