NE Studios tour

At the Saturday, March 18, 2015 meeting...
SMPTE/New England Section visits NESN Studios
Watertown, Massachusetts

NESN Vice President of Programming and Production Joseph Marr addresses some thirty SMPTE members and guests at our March 18 meeting held at the NESN studio in Watertown, Massachusetts. NESN cablecasts both the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins games.

Also speaking to the group was NESN's VP of Engineering Dave Desrochers and Game Creek's Jason Taubman both of whom described the latest technical developments in sports telecasting. Dave Desrochers played. A clip of Yankee's great Derek Jeter's last at bat at Boston's historic Fenway Park accompanied by the headset audio of their director calling the shots, providing an "inside the truck" perspective of a major league broadcast. Game Creek's Jason Taubman gave us a detailed look at their latest sportscasting trucks that can easily rival the abilities of even a major studio.
