HD Television Update
With Dr. Hugo Gaggione
High Definition television is now becoming commonplace in the US.
However, the ability to acquire HD images has been always limited to professional equipment for high-end production applications. With the advent of HDV recording, it is now possible for consumer and prosumer applications to migrate to the picture quality levels offered by high definition on a very affordable basis.
Dr. Hugo Gaggioni, Chief Technology Officer at Sony, explained the technologies behind the world's first 1080 affordable HDV camcorder and HDV VTR and explained how the format fits into the hierarchy of high definition systems and applications. In addition to a disclosure of the technologies that make HDV 1080 possible, the presentation also included information on the workflow, interfaces and ease of getting into the new High Definition era with maximum effectiveness and minimal expense.
Dr. Gaggione demonstrated new equipment from Sony that uses this technology
