The October 22nd meeting entitled Evaluating Monitor Performance - How new display technologies compare to the CRT was held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Dedham Massachusetts.

Our guest speaker Pete Putman, ROAM Consulting L.L.C. shared the results of color gamut, grayscale, and response performance tests conducted using the display technologies currently trying to fill the CRT's shoes. Some of the technologies discussed included LCD, Plasma, OLED, and FED.

Pete holds a B.A. degree in Communications from Seton Hall University and an M.S. degree in Television and Film from Syracuse University. He's Adjunct Faculty for the International Communications Industries Association (ICIA), as well as a member of SMPTE and the Society for Information Display (SID). He also holds certifications from the ICIA (Certified Technology Specialist) and the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF).

Mr. Putman was joined by representatives from Ikegami, JVC, Panasonic, and Sony who provided a selection of high end CRT, LCD, and Plasma monitors. The representatives also added manufacturer specific information and insight on the state of display technology.
